The Student Accommodation 3 (SA3) project is the second phase of the Section 21 student accommodation facility in the ANU Exchange and involves the design and construction of a six-storey building with a single level basement car park.
Accommodation ranges from single studio units to six bedroom self contained apartments, all with internal bathroom and cooking facilities with TV, internet and phone facilities.
The current design will house 419 students, with the ground floor of the facility consisting of a mix of student accommodation, administration & reception areas, lounge and games rooms a coin operated laundry and outdoor BBQ areas.
Throughout the other five floors, common areas are also provided. There will be a large lounge area with flat screen TV and Foxtel, a computer lab, three study rooms and two reading rooms.
The building is a reinforced concrete substructure upon bored piers and basement slab. The superstructure consists of load bearing precast concrete façade with post-tensioned slabs with sections of lightweight cladding & glazing similar to the adjacent Kinloch Lodge building.
The building has a total Gross Floor Area of approximately 15,000 square metres.
There will be 96 car parking spaces and 183 secure bicycles spaces.
Construction of new 6 storey building Design, engineering checking, workshop drawings, fabrication, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the following hydraulic services:
- Sanitary plumbing and drainage;
- Storm water plumbing and drainage;
- Trade waste plumbing and drainage;
- Grease waste plumbing and drainage;
- Grey water plumbing and drainage;
- Domestic cold water;
- Domestic hot and warm water;
- Fire hydrant service;
- Fire hose reel service;
- Natural gas service
